Need an underwater hockey glove? This is an easy way of making a custom fit glove that will fit your hand perfectly.
Things You'll Need:
- Rubber medical glove
- Glove liner
- Caulk
- Caulk gun
Step 1
First you need to buy the proper glove liner. It should fit you loosely but it shouldn't be too big. It also should be entirely made of frabric, caulk will not stick to rubbers, plastics, or leathers.
Step 2
Now put on some rubber medical gloves, this is crucial, if you don't you can recieve second degree burns on your hands from the caulk. You probably also want to go outside or in a garage as caulk is pretty smelly. Now put the glove liner on your playing hand over the rubber medical glove.
Step 3
Apply a very thin layer of caulk over the entirety of the glove liner, make sure to cover everything, especiallly between fingers. Keep this layer as thin as possible and allow it to dry for about 5 to 10 minutes. This will make your glove last much longer.
Step 4
Now make a fist keeping your thumb straight and keep your hand in this fist the until later when you take off the glove. This will mold the glove to fit around your stick making it effortless to hold your stick. Start applying beads of caulk running down your fingers and thumb and over the top of your hand. You will probably want these beads to be thinner over your fingertips and thicker over your knuckles. Try to make them as smooth as possible. If you try smoothing them for more than a minute or two after applying the bead it will have started drying and you will actually be making it less smooth at that point. The more caulk you use the more protective your glove is, but it also becomes bulky and less flexible. So apply extra padding only where needed.
Step 5
Once you have put on all the protective caulk it is time to let it dry. You will want to open up your fist gently for a few seconds every few minutes, this will help keep your glove flexible. Allow the glove to dry on your hand until it can safely be removed without damaging its shape. This can take up to an hour or two.
Step 6
Once the glove is removed allow it completely cure before using it, this will take 24-48 hours. After that you will probably want to separate the fingers, this can be done by carefully pulling them apart. You may also want to cut out the palm if you prefer to feel the stick on your hand. Enjoy your new glove.
