Can be easily distinguished by its colors and by very elongated snout. up to 10cm.
An active and restless species,quite shy and often very difficult to approach. Requires a great deal of patient and a steady hand to get good results with. Since it aiways tends to flit on the opposite side of the black coral colony putting it between itself and the photographer.
Inhabits steep outer reef slopes exposed to strong currents where it lives in large gorgonians and black corals; has been found as shallow as 10 m to at least 100 m. Feeds on small benthic or planktonic crustaceans. Lays .... more |

I had the privilege to photograph this fish at Sodwana Bay January 09, Reef – Roonies 2 Mile, Depth 33 meters, Camera Sony DSC- N1 with video light. Phillip Fouche.
